Today's post is going to be a Tag or unpopular bookish opinions.
Please remember that these are just my opinions and I don't mean to offend anyone!
- A popular book or book series that you didn't enjoy:
I didn't really like the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. I didn't mind the first book at all, but then I feel like Insurgent and Allegiant were not my cup of tea at all. I read them when I was 13 and felt as though there was just too many complications thrown in and so much explaining and I actually didn't even finish the final book (I do know what happens, though). Looking back on the series I don't remember anything about them and didn't have any emotional attachments to the characters.
I'm not hating on the author at all, I think Divergent was a good book with a good concept, I personally just didn't enjoy the last 2 books and it just wasn't for me. - A popular book or series that everyone seems to hate, but you love:I couldn't really think of one for this... but I thought of a compromise.
A lot of people who I have talked to liked the second Harry Potter book (The Chamber of Secrets) the least, but I actually think I like it the most! - A love triangle where the main love interest did not end up with the person you wanted them to end up with:
For this one I chose Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard- Hold on before you bring out your pitchforks and torches.
This is going to be hard to explain without adding any spoilers.
But if circumstances changed and that guy wasn't such a psychopath, than I would want Mare to end up with him...
Sorry if that made no sense... I try. - A Popular genre that you never reach for or read:
Probably Contemporary novels. I recently just haven't been too interested in contemporary plots or anything because I do find most of them a bit boring and not as thrilling as other genres. But don't get me wrong, there are some great contemporaries out there! - A popular or beloved character that you didn't like but everyone loves:
I'm starting to appreciate and like him better now, but I hated Rowan from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. I thought he was arrogant and rude and annoying... but he's starting to grow on me. - A popular author that you can not get into:
John Green. I've said it once and I'll say it again, I don't like his books! I find all the storylines to be somewhat pointless or boring in my eyes and the highest rating I've ever given one of his books is a 3/5 stars. - A book trope that you are tired of seeing (I think a trope is like a plot or something):
I am a bit tired of seeing this love triangle where the girl ends up with one guy and swears she loves him, but then ends up with the other guy... know what I mean? I don't know why that annoys me, but it does. - A popular book series that you have no interest in reading:
The Twilight saga... I might read them.... but I probably wont... not for the next 5 or so years I don't think. (Mind you I said this about The Mortal Instruments series and I'm reading them right now so who knows.) - What book to movie adaptation is better than the actual book:
I can't think of one right now, but one where the movie sucked worse than the book was Paper Towns. I'm sorry, that was mean of me. I just didn't enjoy either of these.
So that was the entire Tag. Again, don't hate me if I disliked something you loved, it all just opinions. Do we have any opinions in common? Thanks for stopping by.
Happy reading,
